The latest Apple event just wrapped up today and we got to see the official reveal of the iPhone 16. The new iPhone models come with new features, upgraded CPU performance, and a price tag of $799 for the basic model.
While that price aligns with the new Android phones released this year, like the Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S24, it is still expensive if you're planning on buying an unlocked model. It's worth noting that the iPhone 15 phones are still nearly as expensive as the iPhone 16 from both Apple direct and Amazon, and it's unlikely that prices on the previous generation of phones will get much lower down the road. This is where Android phones hold an advantage right now.
If you're looking to pick up a new phone right now and don't mind going the way of Android, I've found some good deals on previous generation Google Pixel phones on Amazon happening today. I actually purchased a Google Pixel 8 earlier this year at this price and have had no regrets so far.
Amazon Android Phone Are on Sale Today
The two best Android phone deals I found are on the previous generation Google Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro. The Google Pixel line offers many similar features you'd find in an iPhone. It has an excellent camera and comes packing the Tensor G3 chip that was designed with AI features in mind. At $499, Amazon is currently matching its lowest price ever on the Pixel 8, making it one of the best phone deals right now. The price of the Pixel 8 Pro is down to $624, which is the lowest-ever price on the best last-gen Pixel phone. It's also more than $100 cheaper than the new standard iPhone 16.

Should You Wait for Google Pixel 9 Deals Instead?
Considering these deals are on Google's previous-gen Pixel phones, you may be wondering if it's worth waiting for discounts to the latest Pixel 9 phones before you buy. Now that the iPhone 16 has officially been announced, we are likely going to see some of the first good discounts of the year on Android phones. You can likely expect something like a $100 discount on the Pixel 9 phones when Black Friday rolls around, which would still only drop the price to $699.
All-in-all, our review of the Pixel 9 reveals that it doesn't offer too much in terms of new features over the Pixel 8. However, the Pixel 9 comes packing some fairly significant features that may be worth waiting for. In terms of price, I would still recommend buying the Pixel 8 right now, but you may want to wait for discounts on the Pixel 9 Pro if you want all of the latest upgrades.
