The My Hero Academia manga is ending for good in August 2024 as author Kōhei Horikoshi has announced there are only five chapters left.
An X/Twitter post from My Hero Academia confirmed an August 5, 2024 end for the beloved manga, which will wrap up after 430 chapters and almost a decade of appearing in Japanese manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump.
This means the anime will end sooner rather than later too, though it likely still has a few years to go. The latest, 146th episode premiered in Japan on June 22, 2024 but tells the story of Chapter 351 of the manga, meaning there will be roughly 80 more chapters to adapt.
"There are just five chapters left until the manga's end," Horikoshi said. "Some might think, 'there's still five chapters to go?!' while others may think, 'just five chapters left?!' But I'll do my best to make sure both camps enjoy these last five chapters with Deku and the others.
"It was a rocky road, but I was able to draw Deku and his friends for nearly 10 years thanks to everyone who kept on reading. It was a dream. Thank you so much! Well, let's meet again in Jump!"
Focused on a class of superheroes in training at the prestigious school U.A High, My Hero Academia has become a hit worldwide and spawned myriad media beyond the manga and anime, such as feature films, video games, a card game, and more.
In our 9/10 review of the latest season to release in English, IGN said: "My Hero Academia delivers its best season yet with Season 6. Its character arcs, themes, and plots arrive at a hard-hitting climax with stunning fights, emotionally devastating moments, and shocking reveals."
