Although quirky limited-edition popcorn buckets have occurred for years, 2024 will likely go down as the year when popcorn buckets went borderline NSFW. Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has finally revealed the popcorn bucket for the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine. As you'd expect, it's pretty...interesting.

Posted on Reynolds' official YouTube and X/Twitter accounts, the actor provided a 46-second clip unveiling the design of the tie-in popcorn bucket for the film. It revealed it to be Wolverine's head with his mouth wide open, where moviegoers can shove handfuls of popcorn in their faces.
"Years from now, they will look back at 2024 as when the War of the Popcorn Buckets began," Reynolds wrote in the video description. Alongside the obvious NSFW jokes that will come from the popcorn tin, the end of the video also showed a close-up of a drizzle of butter coming from the top and streaming down towards the bucket's "mouth."
Alongside Ryna Reynolds poking fun at the new popcorn bucket, actor Hugh Jackman, who will once again reprise his role as Wolverine for the upcoming film, also shared the video on his X/Twitter account with the caption: "Don't try to butter me up."
Reynold's reference to the "War of the Popcorn Buckets" refers to 2024 coming out with some of the more eye-catching popcorn buckets. From Regal Theatres' Garfield movie popcorn bucket, revealing you eat popcorn out of the back of Garfield's head, to the ghost trap-themed container for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Yet, the popcorn bucket from 2024 that has become a cultural phenomenon (and the butt of many inappropriate jokes) was the Sandworm popcorn bucket from Dune: Part 2.
Dune: Part 2's popcorn bucket became one of the most iconic memes of 2024. Even AMC, the movie chain where you could exclusively buy the popcorn bucket during the film's theatrical run, admitted that it "would have never created it" if the company knew how much attention it would get.
Unfortunately, Reynolds did not disclose which movie chain(s) will sell the popcorn bucket or how much it will retail for. Yet Deadpool & Wolverine is out on July 26, so we don't have to wait much longer before those interested in it can get their hands on the latest popcorn bucket for their collection.
