Toei Animation has announced that the One Piece anime will be taking a six-month hiatus starting today, October 13, and that it will return with new episodes from the Egghead arc in April 2025. In its place, fans will be able to look forward to a remastered version of One Piece's Fish-Man Island Saga and a special 25th anniversary episode.
Toei Animation announced the pause following One Piece's 1122nd episode, which will be its last new one for some time, while also revealing details of this new take on the Fish-Man Island Saga.
The One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga will run from October 27 of this year through March 30 of next year and a new episode will arrive each and every week. This re-edited version of the arc that first aired between 2011 and 2012 will be 21 episodes long and has "all scenes re-shot plus new animation sequences, including opening and ending themes - featuring a contemporary visual style and recorded in Dolby Atmos. "
The new opening will be called 'We Go!' and will be sung by Kitadani Hiroshi and "special guests." The ending theme will be called 'Sailing' (Episodic Version) and will be sung by BE:FIRST.
In addition to the Fish-Man Island Saga, fans will also be treated to 'One Piece Fan Letter,' which will be released on October 20 and is a 25th anniversary episode celebrating everything One Piece.
"This 30-minute ensemble drama depicts the reunion of the Straw Hats crew from the perspective of non-pirate characters," the official description reads. "Set in the Sabaody Archipelago after the Paramount War, the story follows its protagonist, a young girl and admirer of Nami, as she sets off on a small adventure."
