For years, Invincible and The Boys fans have debated who would win in a fight between each franchise’s overpowered supervillains: Omni-Man and Homelander. Both have Superman-style powers, fancy costumes with capes, and present themselves as superheroes when in reality they are anything but. There are even animated fan films showing how this fantasy fight might play out. Now, via Mortal Kombat 1, fans are able to see for themselves.
Homelander launched as a DLC character in Mortal Kombat 1 this week, and amid discovering a Brutality that’s a cool Easter egg for The Boys, fans are also pitting the character against Omni-Man, another Mortal Kombat 1 guest character.
It seems fans who were always convinced Omni-Man would easily deal with Homelander should the two ever come to blows are having their fun, with a number of clips showing the Viltrumite perform Fatalities on his hapless opponent. As a number of fans have already said on social media, it's cathartic seeing Homelander finally get beaten to a pulp. After all, he deserves it.

But there are a few dissenting voices, too, letting Homelander have some fun of his own.

The consensus is Omni-Man wouldn’t have much trouble dealing with Homelander. He’s much stronger, faster, and can heal. Homelander is perhaps a bigger jerk, though. Indeed, this matchup has been officially acknowledged several times by the creators of both Invincible and The Boys.

Invincible creator Robert Kirkman has said he’s spoken to The Boys producers Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg about the fight, and apparently they have “conceded that Homelander is significantly less powerful than Omni-Man”, and that Omni-Man would “trash Homelander easily.” Kirkman even suggested ‘blue costume’ Invincible (Invincible from later on in the series) would “trash” Homelander, too.
Mortal Kombat 1 begs the question: could we see Homelander pop up at some point in Invincible? Or perhaps vice versa? With all sorts of multiverse shenanigans at play, who knows?
