When it comes to Weekly Shonen Jump, it's not uncommon for stories to overlap with one another. Many series have been trying to recapture the magic present in Dragon Ball, which is shown through their characters, themes, plot progressions, and so on. Occasionally, another successful series does something unique with its story that eventually gets copied. This copying of ideas happens so often that readers hardly call it out anymore. This recycling has been classified as tropes of the shonen battle genre; anybody can use them, and if they happen to make something new, that's also cool.
