What We Do in the Shadows Season 6, its final season, will sink its teeth into viewers when its first three episodes premiere October 21, 2024 (via Variety).

FX’s comedy series will get its start this fall at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The final season contains 11 episodes, meaning the remaining eight will roll out weekly after. Episodes will come to Hulu the day after release, with an international Disney+ release planned to follow at an unspecified point in time.

“After a very brief stint as a full-blown vampire, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) is re-evaluating his life,” an official description reads. “Who is he if not a familiar who will do anything to please his Master in hopes of one day being turned into a vampire? Meanwhile, the vampires are reevaluating, too. When their former roommate reappears after a 50-year nap, they realize how little they’ve done in half a century — not one goal accomplished, not one dream pursued, not one part of the New World conquered (except for their street and part of Ashley Street).”

IGN confirmed that What We Do in the Shadows Season 6 will be its last in late 2023. The show, a tongue-in-cheek vampire comedy-horror based on the 2014 Taika Waititi film of the same name, has been beloved by fans since its debut in 2019 and even managed to nab a trio of nominations at the 2024 Emmy Awards. It stars Kayvan Novak as Nandor, Matt Berry as Laszlo Cravensworth, Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, Harvey Guillén as Guillermo de la Cruz, Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson, and Kristen Schaal as The Guide.

We’ve loved nearly every season of the show thus far, giving the Season 1 premiere a 9/10, the Season 2 premiere a 9/10, and the Season 3 premiere a 9/10, too. Although we weren’t as in love with the beginning of Season 4 (we gave its first batch of episodes a 6/10), we felt Season 5 revitalized the series ahead of its forthcoming conclusion. In our 8/10 review, we said, “FX’s What We Do in the Shadows refreshes its dynamics in Season 5, bringing new life to the vampire sitcom.”
