Amazon is offering an Ecoflow Delta Pro 7.2kWh Lifepo4 Portable Power Station Bundle, which includes a Delta Pro 3.6kWh power station and a Delta Pro 3.6kWh extra battery, for "only" $3629.10 after you clip a $1500 coupon and a second 10% off coupon on the product page. Yes it's not cheap, but this is still an excellent price for a high-capacity Ecoflow power station equipped with LFP batteries.
Ecoflow Delta Pro 7.2kWh LiFePO4 Power Station for $3629
This Delta Pro bundle is comprised of two units, the 3,600Wh base station and the 3,6000Wh battery. It has six AC ports capable of up to 4500W max output with X-boost technology. One of the AC ports is a heavier duty 30W Anderson port. There are also four USB Type-A charging ports and two USB Type-C charging ports with up to 100W Power Delivery. Although the Delta Pro is typically used as a mobile backup power solution when you have no available grid or shore power, it can also work as an always-on passthrough AC power strip as well. It has an EPS function that will automatically swap to battery power when there is a power outage. Keep in mind, though, that it doesn't function exactly as a UPS because there is a small delay (about 30ms) before the switch. Some electronics like PCs may restart instead of staying on.
The huge 7.2kWh battery can power your electronics for days, depending on the load. The Delta Pro uses the newer LiFePO4 cells instead of the NCM cells you find in the original Delta. LiFePO4 cells have safer chemistry, more battery cycles before degradation, and slower calendar aging than NCM. The only negatives of LiFEPO4 compared to NCM are the higher price and the lower energy density (heavier weight).
Standard "UPS" battery backups like APC and CyberPower are cheaper because they use lead acid batteries. As opposed to lithium batteries like LFP and NCM, lead acid batteries are super heavy, have a much shorter lifespan, and are far less efficient. This is the primary reason why your UPS battery backup should be replaced every 3-5 years. An LFP battery will generally retain at least 85% of its charge even after 10 years of service, and it will do so with even more usage than a lead acid battery.
The Delta Pro is a smart battery and thus you can change settings, check on its status, and power on or off outlets remotely, all from your phone. In my personal experience, Ecoflow has good product support and they are continuously rolling out new firmware and software updates. These are the main reasons why I would choose Ecoflow over other popular brands like Bluetti or Jackery, because Ecoflow seems to do a better job of supporting their products and improving their software after the sale.
A note on the federal tax credit. The 30% federal tax credit can be applied to battery storage purchases that total over 3kWh for 2023. That would make this purchase eligible. It would be smart to check your local policies, but you can head over to the energy.gov website for more details.
