Marvel Comics' Secret Invasion storyline is currently being adapted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and for many fans, it's a long time coming. The crossover event was one of the most popular Marvel stories of the 2000s, not to mention a central part of Brian Michael Bendis' run on Avengers.
