With stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow preparing for its official opening in London next month, Netflix has given a glimpse at an official image and the title of its first act.
The first act will be called “Chapter One: The Girl From Nowhere,” and the image can be seen below. It offers a look at a looming Demogorgon surrounded by bats and mist, as a person makes something of a claw gesture in front of it. I’m willing to bet that the person is Henry Creel, who’s at the center of The First Shadow.
As previously revealed, The First Shadow will serve as a Stranger Things prequel story, taking place in 1959 Hawkins. It’ll feature younger versions of Hopper, Joyce, and Bob Newby, and take place as Henry Creel and his family arrive to town, finding that “the shadows of the past have a very long reach,” per Netflix’s official synopsis.
Netflix recently revealed a key detail about The First Shadow during Stranger Things Day last week, with writer Kate Tefry saying that “main thrust of the story” is the “little budding romance” between Henry and a new character, Bob Newby’s sister Patty. In terms of who the “Girl From Nowhere” could be referring to, it could be Joyce or Patty – or maybe Henry Creel’s mother Virginia?
Regardless, it may be worth keeping an eye out for what comes out of The First Shadow. Netflix has previously teased that the events of the play will tie into the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, which is finally allowed to move into production following the resolution of the actors' strike.
The first public preview of The First Shadow took place on Friday, and it'll open officially on Dec. 14 at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End.
