Disney's new Star Wars canon has been steadily growing since the company purchased Lucasfilm back in 2012. Its storytellers have always been influenced by the stories and icons that have appeared before in Star Wars Legends. This is particularly prominent in Star Wars: Rebels, adding Grand Admiral Thrawn, Interdictor-class Star Destroyers, and TIE Defender back into canon. So it's unsurprising that its sequel series, Ahsoka, continues this trend by bringing back another fan-favorite ship, the New Republic E-Wing.
