Disney revealed plans for its forthcoming price hikes for Disney+ and Hulu’s ad-free plans, with both about to increase in the fall.
For U.S. consumers, Disney+ will jump from $10.99 to $13.99 per month for the ad-free plan, with Hulu’s going from 14.99 to $17.99 per month. The changes will take effect on Oct. 12.
It marks the second time in a year that the price of Disney+ has increased. This past December, the price went up from $7.99. That means that by October, Disney+'s ad-supported plan will cost nearly double that it did a year prior.
At the same time, the previously announced Disney+ and Hulu bundle will reflect a significant discount, with the ad-supported bundle coming in at $19.99 per month. Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed plans for the bundle during last quarter’s earnings call.
The price of ESPN+ will also rise from $9.99 per month to $10.99, and Hulu with Live TV will go from $69.99 per month to $76.99 per month.
Disney+ is additionally about to increase its global footprint, expanding to Canada, the U.K., and eight other European countries on Nov. 1. It will start at £4.99/€5.99 per month in Europe, and $7.99/month in Canada.
In some more potentially disappointing news for subscribers, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed during today's earnings call that they're planning to move into password-sharing crackdowns for Disney+ and Hulu in 2024.
