While it's still a major and iconic property, the Star Wars franchise hasn't been thriving in cinema in the 2020s. There hasn't been a movie released in theaters since 2019, and this is despite several attempts to get such a project off the ground. While the TV shows have mostly been well received, certain entries are also as contentious as parts of the sequel trilogy.
