Since Baldur's Gate III takes place over a century after the end of Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, it would be hard to imagine how the developers could bring characters from the previous series into the fold. After all, none of the party members, save for a select few, came from particularly long-lived species. But Faerûn is a mysterious place with wild events happening all the time. Likewise, chronology means very little when a wizard can stop time at any given moment.
