Bowling with Corpses and Other Tales From Lands Unknown is one of our most anticipated new comics of 2025, and for good reason. It's not every day we get a new graphic novel written and drawn by Mike Mignola, particularly one that kicks off an entirely new shared universe.
With Bowling with Corpses now available in comic shops and bookstores, IGN can exclusively debut a new preview of the graphic novel. Check it out in the slideshow gallery below:
Bowling with Corpses is written and illustrated by Mignola, with colors by longtime collaborator Dave Stewart and letters by Clem Robins. The book is the first release in Mignola's new Dark Horse Comics imprint Curious Objects. It introduces a new shared fantasy universe called Lands Unknown, created by Mignola and Ben Stenbeck.
“It all started with an Italian Folktale about a boy who goes bowling with corpses,” said Mignola in a statement. “I fell in love with the story as soon as I discovered it but I wanted to play fast and loose when adapting it, so I created a whole new world. Not TOO different than our world a few centuries ago, but with a lot more gods and monsters. Once I created that world new characters and stories just started pouring out of it. There is a whole lot to play with here and I expect to be at it for a very long time.”
