No franchise exists for sixty years without a few bumps in the road, and Doctor Who is no exception. BBC's premiere science fiction series dematerialized in 1989, reappearing in its current form way back in 2005. The Last Great Time War supposedly filled the sixteen-year gap between the classic and modern series, but longtime fans know that's not exactly true. There's a reason the Seventh Doctor left and returned as the Ninth Doctor.
