Naughty Dog's troubled The Last of Us multiplayer game is still being worked on according to its game director.
As reported by Eurogamer, Naughty Dog's Vinit Agarwal posted on X/Twitter (below) about Super Mario Bros. Wonder, but seemingly so he wouldn't get hounded for answers about The Last of Us multiplayer game he revealed he was still working on it.
"So this tweet can live on in peace... yes, I'm still working on that game," Agarwal said. Though he didn't refer to The Last of Us' multiplayer directly, the the inference is clear.
I did it! Wow that was hard, easily 300+ Marios dead in the process.

Confirmation The Last of Us multiplayer game is still being worked on at Naughty Dog comes six months after reports emerged it had undergone setbacks at the developer. Taking advantage of its recently acquired studio Bungie's multiplayer expertise, Sony reportedly had it analyse Naughty Dog's work before it deemed "what is best for the game is to give it more time".
This response followed a Bloomberg report that alleged the quality and long term viability of The Last of Us multiplayer game had come into question, with only a small group of developers continuing to work on it. Given this update arrived at least two years after Naughty Dog began work on the game, many believed it would never see the light of day again.
Agarwal's confirmation that he's still working on it therefore comes as something of a surprise to some, but it's far from an official statement from Naughty Dog or Sony on the future of The Last of Us multiplayer. The original PlayStation 3 game's 10-year anniversary even came and went without any game development updates.
