General audiences and critics loved the film's serious approach to the Batman mythos and extremely tight script. Fans of the Batman comics loved Nolan's radical approach to the world of DC Comics and respect for the source material. Plus, the movie is chock full of amazing performances. The standout is Heath Ledger's turn as the Joker, which has been rightfully praised since the film's release.
