The so-called Dark Age of Comics introduced a character that would become one of Spider-Man's deadliest foes: Venom. Throughout the following decade, however, he would transition into a more antiheroic "Lethal Protector." Since then, the symbiotic character has seen several major developments, though some of his most recent changes may have been too much for brand longevity.
