Amazon announced today that its adult animated musical comedy show Hazbin Hotel will get at least two more seasons, as the company confirmed that the show has been renewed for a third and fourth season.
During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, series creator Vivienne Medrano confirmed that the second season of Hazbin Hotel is currently in production and has been greenlit for a third and fourth season. "It means a lot how much Amazon has faith in the show and how much they're supporting that," Medrano said.
Hazbin Hotel originally debuted in 2019 when the pilot episode was uploaded onto YouTube. The video was a success at the time, and currently sits at over 111 million views. Then, Prime Video picked up the series and premiered in January 2024 with the first season, which also became a massive hit. Following its premiere, the official social media account for Hazbin Hotel revealed that the series had the largest global debut for a new animated series on Prime Video.
The series focuses on Charlie Morningstar, the princess of Hell who, in an attempt to address the overpopulation of Hell, is looking to rehabilitate sinners so that they may be allowed into Heaven. The first season comprised of nine episodes, while a second season was greenlit last month, according to Deadline.
In our review for the first season of Hazbin Hotel, IGN wrote: "Hazbin Hotel bursts with life and promise, and with a bit of fine-tuning, it could become an all-timer for Amazon and A24."
