If you purchased a Tesla Cybertruck and were having issues with the accelerator pedal getting stuck, it's not you; it's all of them. Tesla announced this week that it has issued a recall for all Cybertrucks due to the faulty accelerator pedal.
On Wednesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) posted that Tesla issued a recall for 3,878 Cybertrucks delivered to customers on its website. Although Tesla did not disclose whether or not this is all the Cybertrucks currently out in the wild, evidence suggests this might be all of them, as the company announced earlier this week that it halted and delayed the shipment of new Cybertrucks by one week with no reason provided at the time.
Cybertruck owners have taken to social media to express dissatisfaction with the truck, with one user on TikTok posting a video of his accelerator pedal sliding off while driving.

The NHTSA website explains that the "accelerator pedal pad may dislodge," causing the pedal to get stuck into the vehicle's "interior trim." The accelerator pedal getting stuck is a severe issue for any car, as a jammed accelerator pedal will prevent drivers from controlling the speed of their vehicle and placing the driver (and any passengers) in danger.
As is common for vehicle recalls, Tesla will replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly at no cost to Cybertruck owners. The NHTSA notes that Cybertruck owners should anticipate receiving a notification letter in the mail by June 2024.
The Tesla Cybertruck was released in November 2023 and has been polarizing since its initial reveal in 2019, most notably for its design. It's unconventional compared to other pickup trucks, especially EVs like the Ford F-150 Lightning. This is not the first time the Cybertruck has been recalled less than a year after it hit the market; in February, Tesla recalled over 2 million of its vehicles in the United States due to the warning lights displaying in the wrong font size.
