DC Comics was once the biggest name in superhero comics. Superman was the first superhero of comics' Golden Age, opening the floodgates for icons like Batman and Wonder Woman. Mantles like the Flash and Green Lantern were created. The Justice Society of America supplied the blueprint for every superhero team that came after. Villains like the Joker and Lex Luthor made their iconic debuts. DC kicked off the Silver Age in the late '50s, bringing superheroes back to the fore. However, their success here would prove to be their undoing.
