Children of the ‘90s, I regret to inform you that we’re officially old. To wit: Green Day’s seminal, breakthrough album Dookie is turning 30. As existentially dread-inducing as that may be to those of us who rocked out to “Longview” in their shaggy teenage years, it’s a stone-cold fact. But if you’d like to relive your increasingly distant youth and celebrate this iconic album, you can do so soon. Green Day is releasing a super-loaded (pun intended) 30th anniversary deluxe edition of Dookie on September 29. It’s available to preorder now in vinyl and CD formats.
This reissue comes with the full album (of course), but it’s also packed full of demos, outtakes, live recordings from the era, and lots of extras. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s dive in.
Preorder Dookie 30th Anniversary
Dookie was Green Day’s third album, released in February of 1994. It sold over 15 million copies and helped make Green Day the biggest punk band on the planet.
The new vinyl edition of Dookie includes tons of music pressed across six LPs (see the full track listing below). It also includes a 36-page 12”x12” book, plus a bunch of “memorabilia items” that include dog poop bags, air freshener, poster, color-in litho, button set, magnet sheet, post card, bumper sticker, and paper plane.
The CD version comes with four CDs that contain all the same tracks as the vinyl version. This package includes fewer extras, but it’s also cheaper, which should lighten the load (pun intended). It comes with a 48-page book, button set, air freshener, magnet, and two stickers. TLDR, if you want the dog poop bags, be sure to get the vinyl edition.
