Despite an apparent tease from Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best, the infamous Star Wars Gungan seemingly isn't appearing in a video game from Activision after all.

As reported by Eurogamer, Best caused a bit of chaos within Star Wars fandom on February 28 when he posted an Instagram photo of himself in a motion capture suit with a series of Star Wars-related hashtags and the caption: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."

Activision was also one of the hashtags, causing fans to think Best was starring in an unannounced Star Wars game from the publisher or perhaps appearing as a skin in Call of Duty, which has pulled in similar collaborations with the likes of Terminator, Attack on Titan, and Rambo.

Internet detectives have since dug into Best's other social media posts, discovering he appears to be working on South of Midnight from We Happy Few developer Compulsion Games. His mention of being pulled back in therefore appears to solely refer to the motion capture suit, thus the Star Wars hashtags.

As for Activision, the motion capture studio Compulsion Games is using appears to be owned by the mega publisher. Star Wars fans can therefore seemingly look forward to Best in the supernatural action game South of Midnight, but probably not another Star Wars appearance.

He did return to the galaxy far, far away somewhat recently though, showing up as a new character in The Mandalorian Season 3. He's otherwise not appeared as Jar Jar since Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day.
