Get ready for another Benoit Blanc mystery, as the third Knives Out movie is apparently heading into production this year, according to Deadline.

The news came somewhat buried in an article about Knives Out writer/director Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman's independent studio T-Street hiring a new producer, Katie McNeill. In it, Deadline notes that T-Street "is gearing up to make the third installment of the Benoit Blanc franchise for Netflix later this year." The report also mentions that the third movie in the series is currently untitled.

IGN has reached out to Netflix to confirm.

While this is our latest update on Benoit Blanc's next investigation, we already knew Knives Out 3 had been greenlit. Back in March 2021, Netflix nabbed the rights to Knives Out 2 (which would eventually become Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) and 3 in a massive $450 million deal. It was also confirmed at the time that Daniel Craig would return for both sequels to reprise his central role, with Johnson also returning.

Our last update came in October 2023, when Johnson said during an interview with The Wrap, "obviously couldn’t work [on Knives Out 3] during the strike, and now that it’s over, I’m diving in full force, and so it’s coming along."

"I’ve got the premise, I’ve got the setting, I’ve got what the movie is in my head," he added. "It’s just a matter of writing the damn thing."

Both Knives Out films, focusing on two separate Benoit Blanc mysteries, have been massive successes, with the first movie making an impressive $310 million worldwide in 2019 (per Box Office Mojo). The success of Glass Onion is a little harder to quantify, given that Netflix released the sequel and gave it a limited theatrical run for just a week before it hit Netflix.

Still, of what we do know of Glass Onion's viewership, it reportedly broke a record as the most-streamed movie in one week, and critics loved it as well. IGN gave it a 9/10, with Rafael Motamayor writing that it "improves upon virtually every aspect of its predecessor and delivers a big, bold, funny, angry, timely, and timeless whodunit."
