Prime Video's Fallout TV series hasn't officially been renewed for a second season quite yet, but it just got a very promising production update in the form of a California tax credit.

The show's been offered a $25 million tax credit to relocate filming from New York State to California for Season 2. As mentioned, Prime Video hasn't announced any renewal news for the adaptation of Bethesda's video game series, but the move is an extremely good sign that a second season is in the works.

That being said, there's reason to not get too excited too quickly. As Variety points out, Prime Video's Citadel was previously awarded a $25 million tax credit to relocate to California for its second season. That show, however, was eventually canceled, with the $25 million being allocated elsewhere in the incentive pool.

The California Film Commission issues tax credits to avoid what's called "runaway production," attempting to lure productions that would've filmed in other states or overseas. Variety notes that Season 2 of Fallout was reported to begin filming in September in Toronto.

Fallout is just one of a dozen TV series to benefit from a $153 million overall incentive from the California Film Commission. Other series to get part of that incentive include the first season of NCIS: Origins, the Ryan Murphy-produced Dr. Odyssey, and the Niecy Nash-starring Grotesquerie.

The news comes just a few days ahead of Fallout Season 1's April 11 premiere. The series, which hails from Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, will drop all eight episodes of Season 1 at once.
