Even before Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, Star Wars fans had strong feelings about the person in charge of creative decisions for the studio. Thus, when news broke that Dave Filoni earned a promotion, fans expressed either concern or relief for the future of Star Wars. However, this is clearly good news for the entire galaxy far, far away. Ever since Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans have been torn about the direction the larger saga should go. Some wanted Rey Skywalker to come by her name genetically as the progeny of Luke and some other figure. Others embraced the idea teased in Star Wars: The Last Jedi that Rey was a "nobody," just some random kid chosen by the Force to save the galaxy.
