Larry David’s long-running tongue-in-cheek comedy series, Curb Your Enthusiasm, will premiere the first episode of Season 12 on February 4, 2024, marking the beginning of the show’s final season, HBO has announced.

HBO and Max will air the debut episode that Sunday at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, with more episodes to follow weekly. The finale will close the chapter April 7.

While Curb Your Enthusiasm has always somewhat flirted with ending, often with long periods in between seasons, HBO's announcement on Thursday confirms that David is seemingly officially saying goodbye to the series that got its start more than two decades ago.

“As CURB comes to an end, I will now have the opportunity to finally shed this ‘Larry David’ persona and become the person God intended me to be – the thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate human being I was until I got derailed by portraying this malignant character,” David said in an appropriately cheeky statement. “And so ‘Larry David,’ I bid you farewell. Your misanthropy will not be missed. And for those of you who would like to get in touch with me, you can reach me at Doctors Without Borders.”

Curb Your Enthusiasm got its start with a special in 1999, but hasn’t routinely aired new episodes. The series took a break in 2011, as David seemed to show little interest in returning past Season 8. Fans were left without more of the fictionalized version of the creator and star’s life for years until HBO announced in 2016 that it would indeed return for a ninth season.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9 premiered October 1, 2017, bringing an end to the drought. Seasons 10 and 11 did eventually make their way to audiences, though we did receive a hint early this year, in a since-deleted tweet, that Season 12 would be the show’s last.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 12 will run for 10 episodes.

“It’s hard to say farewell to such a ground-breaking, brilliantly funny and iconic series like CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, which has left its mark across television and the comedy genre,” HBO and Max Content Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys said. “Working alongside Larry David and Jeff Schaffer as well as all of the comedic masterminds that comprise our producers, cast and crew has been a joy that I will always treasure.”
