On-demand movie and TV streaming platform Vudu is getting a name change that will see it rebranded to Fandango at Home.

The service’s parent company, Fandango, announced the move on X (formerly Twitter). It’s a change that gives Vudu fans a completely new banner to visit, but rest assured, your library and movie options aren’t going anywhere.

“We will still have the same great films, shows, deals, and bundles, plus your library will stay right where it's always been,” the company explained.

A Fandango at Home FAQ page further clarifies that viewers will continue to have the same experience they’ve had since Vudu launched its set-top box in 2007. The aim seems to be to further unify Fandango’s offerings under one umbrella, as one page says that account holders will “now have the option to link your Fandango and Fandango at Home logins.”

Vudu’s name will be phased out after around 17 years of in-your-home entertainment offerings. It currently boasts more than 250,000 movies and shows for viewers to watch not only from their homes but on their phones as well. Walmart purchased Vudu in 2010 and oversaw the platform for around a decade before Fandango took over in 2020.

As Vudu continued to prove itself as a viable platform for moviegoers, Fandango slowly started to fold the streaming option in under its wing. This started with the shuttering of its other entertainment platform, FandangoNOW, in 2021. Vudu eventually saw the Fandango name added to its logo, with this most recent announcement finally getting rid of the name entirely.

As reported by Variety, many Vudu users were made aware of the name change in an email. The date the change will go into effect is a mystery, but Fandango says it will occur “in a few weeks.”

Fandango Senior Vice President of OTT and Streaming Cameron Douglas issued a statement regarding the change: “Fandango remains committed to super-serving fans with all their entertainment needs, and we are excited about the opportunities this rebranding brings to deliver a seamless and enjoyable service to our users.”
