New story details for Deadpool & Wolverine have emerged, and there is one twist that fans did not see coming.
The latest issue of Total Film reveals that Deadpool & Wolverine picks up six years after the events of Deadpool 2. Wade is "proving to be useless at selling cars, hawking Blind Al's blood-pressure meds to make rent, and his beloved Vanessa has a new boyfriend," a fan account for Deadpool on X/Twitter shared from the magazine.

It certainly sounds like the Merc with a Mouth has been put through the wringer since we last saw him — but the most shocking detail for fans was that Vanessa has seemingly hitched up with someone else. After all, Wade risked it all by using Cable's time-travel device to prevent Vanessa from being killed at the end of Deadpool 2.
Some people questioned the decision to give Vanessa a new boyfriend, and others tried to make sense of it by coming up with potential scenarios to help explain it. "Maybe Wade broke up with her since he didn't want to get her killed again?" suggested one person, as another added: "Must be a different variant of her, I guess."

This plot point is likely to be the first of many surprises that Deadpool & Wolverine has to offer, as director Shawn Levy has already promised that his superhero outing is "not like any MCU movie," with the trailers showing off some Strange sorcery and a few unexpected cameos, including a hotly rumored appearance from Ladypool.
The third Deadpool movie hits theaters on July 26 as part of the MCU's Phase 5, with a limited-edition popcorn bucket to mark the occasion. It is the only MCU movie to release this year.
