While it can be a bit long and tedious, The Mayoral Election Side Adventure is one of the most important to complete in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Not only does it unlock the armor shop in Hateno Village, but it also unlocks Cece's secret collection of rarities which lets players buy back armor or equipment they may have lost for one reason or another throughout their journey. Not only that, but Cece also happens to be the only person in Hyrule who can seem to help Link figure out how to pull down his Hylian Hood.
