Newer anime fans have not had the same experience as fans who started experiencing the medium in the '80s and '90s. Gone are the days of watching fan-translated episodes of Naruto on YouTube that had been split into three parts because YouTube didn't allow videos over eight minutes long. Waiting for Toonami to finally move past the Frieza arc is a thing of the past with the rise of anime streaming services like Crunchyroll and Funimation. There is also a much larger community for anime fans to be a part of, with more and more conventions and online spaces popping up each year. There has never been a better time to be an anime fan outside of Japan.
