Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender is a beloved series, and for good reason. Between its unique setting, comprehensive magic system, stunning animation and emotionally-mature storytelling, Avatar set a new bar for American cartoons. Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation, therefore, has big shoes to fill. However, the daunting task of living up to the original show comes with a significant advantage: hindsight. Netflix's adaptation has the opportunity to adjust based on what worked and what did not in the original series, as well as other Avatar-related media.
