Actor and writer Sacha Baron Cohen is reportedly reviving his controversial character Ali G for an upcoming stand-up tour.

As reported by Variety, Cohen is planning to revive the character for an upcoming stand-up tour. The outlet also asked the source familiar with the matter whether or not Cohen was working on a new movie with the character but they denied it, noting that Cohen is strictly abiding by the rules set forth as a result of the ongoing strikes.

Alistair Leslie Graham, better known as Ali G, is one of a few characters Cohen has created. Ali G first appeared on the British sketch series The 11 O'Clock Show. The character would eventually get his own standalone series called The Ali G Show, which ran for three seasons and focused on the character conducting interviews and interacting with public figures, such as Donald Trump.

In 2002, the character received his own film called Ali G Indahouse.

Due to his mannerisms, the fact he speaks in slang based on Jamaican street culture, and the fact that he claims to be the leader of a local street gang, the Ali G character has been controversial, with some deeming the character racially offensive.

As Variety notes, Cohen recently revived the character during a secret street gig in Australia in 2021.

Cohen, of course, has a number of other satirical characters that he's famous for, including Borat Sagdiyev, Brüno Gehard, and Admiral General Aladeen, all of which have gotten their own feature films.
