In the tabletop RPG Dungeons & Dragons, it's usually expected that the adventurer party's members will all be neutral to good-aligned people. It's always noble, selfless heroes in fiction who risk their lives to save the day against evil and inspire viewers by standing up for what is right. Such ideas are built into D&D, since a campaign or one-shot wouldn't go very far if the player characters decided that fighting monsters to save people wasn't a worthwhile cause. Still, there are some viable ways to run a genuinely evil player character or PC.
