Star Trek: Enterprise has always been something of a red-headed stepchild for the franchise. It arrived at the end of the Star Trek renaissance: beginning with Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987, and encompassing Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager. The show's pre-Federation timetable made storytelling more of a challenge at times, and its unfair cancelation after four seasons left a lot of untapped potential on the table.
