Warner Bros. Games has revealed a first look at gameplay of the upcoming Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.
The ‘Welcome Students’ pre-order trailer, below, reveals the gameplay fans can expect from Unbroken Studios' game, which is based on the magical sport of Quidditch made famous by the Harry Potter series.
The video highlights the game’s single-player Career Mode and Online Competitive Mode, and offers a glimpse at the character creator. We see many familiar characters, including Harry Potter himself, Ron Weasley, and Draco Malfoy.
There’s also a look at the Quidditch World Cup Stadium, as well as some of the arenas set in familiar wizarding world locations. Here’s the official blurb:
Featuring iconic wizarding world locations, characters, and references that fans will love, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions highlights the rush of flying across legendary arenas as either a Beater, Chaser, Keeper or Seeker in a variety of modes. From backyard battles in the Weasley Burrow to high-stakes showdowns at the Quidditch World Cup, players will soar into legendary arenas playing as - or against - iconic characters such as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and many other quintessential characters.
Warner Bros. Games has an interesting release strategy for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. It launches digitally across Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on September 3. The Physical Deluxe Edition, however, won’t be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One until November 8, 2024. The Nintendo Switch version has a “this Holiday season” release window.
Sony has picked up Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions as a PlayStation Plus game from launch on September 3 to September 30. The Firebolt Supreme Broom Skin will also be available as a redeemable pack, available during this time for PlayStation Plus members. Warner Bros. Games said PlayStation Plus members who download the game during this window will continue to have access to the game for as long as they remain a member.
The Digital Standard Edition costs $29.99, with the Digital and Physical Deluxe Editions priced $39.99. The Deluxe Edition includes the base game as well as the Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor House Packs and 2,000 gold to spend in-game.
Interestingly, Warner Bros. Games made a point of saying there are “no plans for microtransactions in the game at this time.” Gold is only earned through gameplay progression.
