A new game set in the Wizarding World is in development as WB Games and Unbroken Studios officially announced Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.
At Summer Games Fest, a full premiere for the game was shown off, providing a fast-paced, albeit cinematic, trailer of the upcoming game. Alongside a trailer, we got confirmation that the game will be released on September 3 for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. More interestingly, the press release notes that PlayStation Plus members will have access to the game "at no extra charge" from September 3 until September 30.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will allow players to play the magical sport found in both the Harry Potter films and books. Players can play Quidditch through solo play, in co-op online matches with friends, or compete in online play with other players. A press release for the game revealed that Quidditch Champions will allow players to choose which position they can play: Beater, Chaser, Keeper, or Seeker.
“The team is excited to unveil Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions and showcase our take of this magical sport," Unbroken Studios CEO Paul Ohanian said in a press release. "We’ve worked hard to create a Quidditch game to play solo or with friends, that is an authentic representation of the fan-favorite sport.”
This is the most recent Harry Potter game dedicated entirely to Quidditch, following 2003's Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup. In our review of Quidditch World Cup, which scored a 7.2 out of 10, IGN wrote: "Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup could have been given the true Madden treatment, but instead EA has made a fun, but slightly shallow take on the fictional sport."
