Phase I of Marvel's Star Wars: The High Republic (2021) ends on a particularly bleak note. After the Nihil successfully destroys the Starlight Beacon and slaughters many Jedi, the survivors are left to deal with the continuing Nihil threat in the aftermath. While Phase II of the Star Wars: The High Republic subseries focuses on an earlier era to show the Nihil's origins, Star Wars: The High Republic subseries' Phase III picks up a year after the Nihil's victory in a Star Wars galaxy fraught with chaos.
