Mike Flanagan's The Haunting Anthology masters several kinds of fear and horror beats. There are jump scares, and then there are slower, creeping kinds of existential horror scenes. There are so many layers to backgrounds in The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor that the viewer often has to watch the series more than once to catch all the scares.
