Like all new series in the franchise, Star Trek: Discovery was met with some backlash by fans, especially for the drastic redesign of the Klingon species. The second major redesign of the fan-favorite villains, it completely re-imagined their look. However, one particular element of the Klingons in Star Trek: Discovery was even more accurate than The Next Generation era iteration of the species: the language. The dedication and care put into creating the native dialogue for the Klingons in Discovery was at a level usually reserved for the feature films. In Season 2 of Strange New Worlds, the Klingons looked different than they did on Discovery and more in line with the style introduced in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. This makes sense, since Discovery introduced cinema-level visual effects, camera moves and other production elements to match the era of prestige TV.
