Despite being one of the most influential and important sci-fi stories ever told, Planet of the Apes is still somewhat underrated. The original movies never really broke through the mainstream, and the franchise was only given the respect it deserved through its prequels and soft reboots. Thankfully, there's newfound interest in the series.
