Narnia’s C.S. Lewis and The Lord of the Rings’ J.R.R. Tolkien were very good friends. They read and critiqued each other’s work, wrote about each other in letters, and were members of the same informal writers’ group ‘The Inklings.’ Their friendship, however, did not mean they loved everything the other wrote. While there was certainly mutual respect between them, they did clash over some things. C.S. Lewis' inclusion of Father Christmas in The Chronicles of Narnia was one such point.
