For the first time since the Twilight series wrapped up, Kristen Stewart will be making a return to the vampire genre - and she'll be joined by Oscar Isaac.

Per a press release today, Stewart and Osaac will co-star in a thriller called Flesh of the Gods, directed by Mandy filmmaker Panos Cosmatos. It has some other big names behind-the-scenes as well, being written by Andrew Kevin Walker, best known for the 1995 serial killer thriller Seven. Adam McKay (The Big Short, Vice, Don't Look Up) will produce, along with Betsy Koch, for their Hyperobject Industries. Isaac is also on board as a producer.

The movie will take place in a "glittering '80s LA," with Stewart and Isaac playing Alex and Raoul, a couple that "descend(s) each evening from their luxury skyscraper condo and head(s) into an electric nighttime realm of 80’s Los Angeles." "When they cross paths with the mysterious and enigmatic NAMELESS and her hard-partying cabal, Raoul and Alex are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills, and violence," the official logline continues.

“This director, this writer, these incredible actors, vampires, choice 80’s punk, style and attitude for miles… that’s the film we’re bringing you today," McKay said in the announcement. "We think it’s wildly commercial AND wildly artful. Our ambitions are to make a movie that ripples through popular culture, fashion, music, and film. Can you tell how excited I am?”

“Like Los Angeles itself, FLESH OF THE GODS inhabits the liminal realm between fantasy and nightmare," added Cosmatos. "Both propulsive and hypnotic, FLESH will take you on a hot rod joy ride deep into the glittering heart of hell."

"Our ambitions are to make a movie that ripples through popular culture, fashion, music, and film.

Stewart, as mentioned, broke out in vampire movies, having starred in the Twilight Saga from 2008-2012. Since then, she's starred in films like Snow White and the Huntsman, Still Alice, and Personal Shopper, and earned an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Diana, Princess of Wales, in Pablo Lorrain’s Spencer. Most recently, she starred in Rose Glass' romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding alongside Katy O'Brian.

Isaac, meanwhile, has appeared in all kinds of major franchises, including the Star Wars sequel trilogy, the MCU series Moon Knight, Dune, and X-Men: Apocalypse. He also recently provided the voice of Miguel O'Hara in last year's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Flesh of the Gods does not yet have a studio attached, but it'll go out to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
