Critical Role is about its player characters first and foremost. The adventuring parties are the undeniable stars of the show. However, Dungeon Master Matthew Mercer has to populate the world much like in any other Dungeons & Dragons game. Some of his NPCs stand out from world-ending villains, forgettable allies, and the general inhabitants of the world.
