Part of what makes alternate worlds in comics so much fun is that there isn't as much demand to maintain a status quo. Characters can die more frequently, origins can be shifted radically, and some could even end up villains rather than heroes. Ultimate Universe #1 (by Jonathan Hickman, Stefano Caselli, David Curiel, and VC's Joe Caramagna) inverses that last possibility by turning a villain into a hero. The new Avengers formed on Earth-6160 have a few members any Marvel fan would recognize as classic Avenger stock, but one character in particular is something of a black sheep among them: Doctor Doom.
