Marvel’s new Alpha Flight series starts off with a story of intolerance, representation, and the nuance of delivering justice within unjust systems. Under Department H, Canada’s premier superhero team is tasked with hunting down their own kind when mutants are declared a national threat. But its latest issue shows the team providing aid in spite of those orders, bringing mutant fugitives to Manitoba’s secret Krakoa North. The issue may also show an adorable new version of a vicious 90s-era X-Men foe. One Krakoa North stowaway wears a bubble suit that glows orange from his mutant abilities, unmistakable visual cues of the nightmarish villain Holocaust.
