Apple has unveiled the latest model refresh for its all-in-one computer known as the iMac, and it features the brand-new M3 chip, "2x faster performance" than the last-gen iMacs with the M1 chip, and a 4.5K Retina display with "11.3 million pixels and over a billion colors."

The new iMac is now available for pre-order and it will be released on November 7, 2023. The iMac with 8-core GPU starts at $1,299 and $1,249 for education, and it can be purchased in either green, pink, blue, or silver.

The iMac with 10-core GPU starts at $1,499 and $1,399 for education, and it can be purchased in green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, or silver.

The M3 chip is Apple's latest and is, as we previously mentioned, 2x faster than the previous generation with the M1 chip. It also supports up to 24GB of unified memory and up to 2TB SSD storage. The iMac will also support hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing, and it has a 16-core Neural Engine and the latest media engine.

If you are upgrading from an Intel-based iMac, you will notice "4x faster performance than the most powerful 21.5-inch iMac model, and up to 2.5 faster performance when compared to the most popular 27-inch iMax models."

Being an All-in-One computer, it has everything you need in one place, including the 24-inch, 4.5K Retina display, advanced connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E, a 1080p FaceTime camera, studio quality mics, a six-speaker sound system, color-matched accessories, Touch ID, a "seamless experience" with iPhones, and much more.

Lastly, the iMac is designed with the environment in mind and is built with "100 percent recycled aluminum in the stand, recycled rare earth magnets, recycled tin soldering in multiple printed circuit boards, and, in a first for iMac, 100 percent recycled gold in the plating of multiple printed circuit boards."

The iMac began supporting Apple's own silicon back in 2021 when the company released a lineup of seven colorful products, all of which were running the M1 chip. Making this model refresh a much-needed upgrade for an over two-year-old computer.
