The original Mobile Suit Gundam is still one of the best mecha anime of all time. It introduced two of anime’s most popular characters, Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, as well as plenty of concepts that have gone on to become the standard in later mecha anime. Gundam is also famous for its incredible mecha battles, which have reached remarkable heights in the newest mecha series, but still hit hard all the way back in the original series.
