Aragorn possessed a wide array of skills and abilities in The Lord of the Rings; he was a master combatant, an expert survivalist, a cunning tactician, and a charismatic leader. But his most important role was one that he did not assume on the battlefield — that of a healer. Peter Jackson's trilogy of film adaptations showcased some of Aragorn's capability as a healer, but in J. R. R. Tolkien's novel, it was a far more significant part of his character.
